Privacy Policy

The Short Version

      Untagged does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. All photo processing happens entirely on your device. I have no servers, no analytics, no tracking. Your photos and their metadata never leave your device — period.
    

What Untagged Does

Untagged removes privacy-sensitive metadata (such as GPS coordinates, device information, and timestamps) from your photos before you share them. All stripping is performed locally on your device. No photos, metadata, or any other data is ever uploaded to external servers.

Data Storage

All data within Untagged — including cleaned photos, folder organization, strip presets, and app settings — is stored exclusively on your device in the app's local storage. Nothing is transmitted to external servers, cloud services, or third parties.

Data Collection

Untagged does not collect or process personal data on external servers. This includes, but is not limited to:

Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
Photo content or metadata
Usage or analytics data
Device identifiers or fingerprints
Location data
Crash reports or diagnostics

Photo Library Access

Untagged accesses your photo library only when you explicitly choose to import photos for metadata stripping. Photos are read from your library, processed locally, and the cleaned versions are stored within the app. The original photos in your library are never modified. Untagged does not access your photo library in the background or without your direct action.

Share Extension

Untagged includes a share extension that allows you to strip metadata directly from other apps (such as the Photos app). When you use this feature, the selected photos are processed entirely on your device. No data is transmitted externally during this process.

Network Activity

Untagged does not include any networking capabilities. The app contains no network entitlements, no HTTP clients, no API calls, and no telemetry. It is technically incapable of sending data off your device.

Third-Party Services

Untagged does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising frameworks, or tracking libraries. No data is shared with third parties because no data leaves your device.

In-App Purchases

Untagged offers an optional tip to support development. This transaction is processed entirely by Apple (App Store). I do not receive any personal or financial data from these purchases — only an anonymous confirmation that a transaction occurred. All payment processing is handled under Apple's own privacy policy.

Distribution Platforms

When downloading Untagged via the Apple App Store, Apple may process personal data independently under their own privacy policy. This is outside of our control and governed by Apple's terms.

Children's Privacy

Since Untagged does not collect any personal data, there are no special concerns regarding children's privacy. The app can be used by anyone without risk of data collection.

Your Rights under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and port your personal data. Since Untagged stores all data locally on your device and I have no access to it, you can exercise these rights directly — by viewing, managing, or deleting your data within the app. You may delete all cleaned photos and app data at any time by removing the app from your device.

Supervisory Authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority for data protection. The competent authority in North Rhine-Westphalia is:

Legal Basis

Since this app does not collect or process personal data on external servers, most provisions of the GDPR regarding data processing do not apply in practice.

Any processing that may occur is limited to local processing on your device and is technically necessary for the functionality of the app (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or based on legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional application (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

I do not collect, store, or transmit personal data on our servers. All data processing takes place locally on your device.

Changes to This Policy

If I update this privacy policy, I will revise the "Last updated" date above. Since I do not collect contact information, I recommend checking this page occasionally.
